Nora, ¡muchas gracias por tu comentario! La bibliografía del artículo trata desde diversas perspectivas la temática del color, pueden ser un buen punto de partida. Recomiendo particularmente el libro de Heller, que si bien es una encuesta ejecutada sobre una población alemana, da una idea de cómo hacer un estudio de percepción del color como componente de significación.

Coincido con vos, Luciano, en tanto la simbología del color es inútil fuera de contexto, como cualquier aplicación teórica fuera de su campo de acción inicial. Heller indica en "Psicología del Color": "El efecto de cada color está determinado por su contexto (...) El contexto es el criterio para determinar si un color resulta agradable y correcto o falso y carente de gusto."

Sin embargo, sí considero que las formas de los signos dan cuenta de los valores de una marca. Una marca de alcance global puede usar el círculo como elemento formal base. Pero ese es tema de otro artículo quizá.
