Santasombra Studio

Hello, my name is Victor Ruano, my nickname is Sombra, and my website is Santasombra.

I am a TWO time EMMY® Award winning Graphic Designer, Motion Graphics Animator, Visual Artist & Filmmaker from Santa Ana, El Salvador. These four personas have always boiled within me for expression. They constantly work independently of each other and yet work together as strong and loyal partners.

I have had the immense privilege to work in a very diverse range of challenging, multidisciplinary and meaningful environments and projects, in many different countries around the globe. From the Olympics with NBC (I have Beijing 08, Vancouver 10 & London 12 under my belt already, and very soon Sochi/Russia 2014); to ad campaigns for Microsoft, Nike, Coca Cola, Macy’s, Jet Blue, Xerox, and Fruit of the Loom, among others; to large, mid & small size Motion Graphics studios in NYC & Los Angeles (Two cities where I had lived working as a Freelancer) with clients such as TeenNick Halo Awards, Sundance, Ferrari, Centrum, De Beers Jewelry, Bravo Channel, Bloomberg, Bow Tie Cinemas, NBC Sports, NHL, NFL; to my personal work which encompasses illustration, visual art, and film-making (shorts and feature films).

My films El Cadáver Exquisito (2011) and Ever Amado (2007) have been screened in multiple International Film Festivals, including The Berlinale, Guadalajara FF, La Habana FF and Mubi.com. These two movies have taken me to screenings, presentations and lectures in Brazil, Argentina, Greece, USA, Austria, Cuba, Chile, Uruguay, El Salvador, Guatemala, Costa Rica, Honduras, Mexico, Germany, Venezuela, Canada, Lebanon, Nicaragua, Honduras, Colombia, Peru, Belize and Spain.

I have also produced dozens of low budget, experimental short films for VOD & DVD distribution, art galleries exhibitions or just personal experimentation.
