A graphic designer, professional. Lives in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Works at Fontana Diseño. Professional with interest in the areas of: Graphic Design, Industrial Design, Web Design, Advertising, Communication, Illustration, Marketing, Branding. Rubén joined FOROALFA in 2005.
For 40 years, has directed the Fontanadiseño studio, developing activities in Argentina and Latin America. In recent years, the team led by Rubén Fontana has specialized in the design and implementation of comprehensive institutional and corporate identity programs.
Introduced typography education to the Graphic Design program at the University of Buenos Aires and, until 1997, was a full professor of the Typography I, II, and III courses. At the same university, taught postgraduate courses in Typography and was a full professor of the Editorial Design course.
Has delivered lectures, postgraduate courses, and master’s programs at various schools and universities in Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Canada, Cuba, Spain, Mexico, Paraguay, Peru, Uruguay, and the Netherlands.
Served as a juror for the Type Directors Club and Punto Sur in New York. His graphic work is featured, among others, in the collection of the Museum of Modern Art in New York.
Is the editor of the magazine tipoGráfica, a specialized publication edited in Argentina since 1987.
Is Argentina’s representative for the ATypI (Association Typographique Internationale). His professional work has received over 40 awards, including the Konex Platinum Award for his career in Visual Arts.
Designed, among other type families, the Fontana ND system, which received the Certificate of Excellence in Typeface Design awarded by the Association of Typeface Designers in Moscow and the Association Typographique Internationale (ATypI), having been selected among the winners of the bukva:raz! competition, and the same distinction from the Type Directors Club of New York (TDC).

Es cierto que se atribuye a Jannon esa versión de la «Garamont» de la Imprimerie National, pero es la única a mano expuesta como alfabeto para mostrar las características de la que diseño Claude Garamond, pero además, cómo decirlo… ¿quién nos asegura que Jannon no miró fijo el trabajo de Don Garamond y que ésta no es más que una versión de aquel histórico trabajo? Por otro lado, ratifico mi confianza ciega en la imaginación…

¿Yo puedo opinar? Por propia experiencia sé del esfuerzo y dedicación necesarios para realizar un emprendimiento de estas características. Quiero agradecerles semejante generosidad, y reconocer públicamente mi adicción a los contenidos del foro que por su variedad y apertura contribuyen a la reflexión.
