Puedes buscar en Google con el termino «mindmap», hay un libro escrito por Tony Buzan no sé si hay una versión digital, en software tienes Freemind y Freeplane que son herramientas gratuitas, Freeplane tiene ejemplos que te pueden ayudar a comenzar. Yo utilizo esta técnica en el desarrollo de sistemas de información y la maduración y exploración de ideas.
